Description

Major Thomas Frederick Basson was promoted from Cadet to Second Lieutenant on 4 December 1942, joining the Northumberland Regiment. He remained with the Northumberland’s throughout the remainder of WW2, being promoted to Lieutenant.  He later transferred to the R.A.O.C. on 1 November 1949 and was promoted to Captain on 14 July 1950. Promoted once again to Major on 4 December 1955, he was appointed M.B.E. on 1 January 1968 and relinquished his commission the following year on 25 April 1969 upon completion of service. Korean War service currently unconfirmed.
