Private Clarke Rifle Brigade Mounted Infantry was killed in action at Welkom Farm near Vryheid 28.3.1901 whilst serving in the Mounted Infantry.  British Regiments in South Africa by John Sterling mentions the Rifle Brigade furnished many sections of the Mounted Infantry ‘whose doings would require a volume as they had fighting all over the country’
