Description
Henry Aspden served in Captain Courteney Ilbert’s Coy 3rd battery of Foot Artillery during the Waterloo campaign. He was awarded a 4 clasp M.G.S. Corunna, Vittoria, Orthes, Toulouse. A note on the Vigors roll states in a letter from the D.A.Gs office, Woolwich dated 15th June 1849 as being a serving Master Gunner at Bangaher, Ireland. Served in Captain Hutchensons company at Waterloo.
The steel clip and ring suspension replaced by a straight bar suspension as commonly used in this period by the artillery.
