Description

H.M.S. Nassau together with H.M.S. Stately, jointly attacked and destroyed the Danish 74-gun ship Prindts Christian Frederick off Grenaa, Coast of Jutland, Denmark, on 22 March 1808. The Nassau suffered two men killed, and sixteen men wounded, whilst the Stately lost four men killed, and two officers and twenty-six men wounded. The loss to the Danish, out of a crew of five hundred and seventy-six, amounted to fifty-five men killed and eighty-eight wounded.
Thomas Deverell is confirmed as a Boy 3rd Class aboard the Nassau, 64 guns. Medal and clasp confirmed on the Colin Message roll. Sold with copied muster list and N.G.S. roll page which shows he joined H.M.S. Nassau from the Marine Society age 13 years. the only name ‘ Deverell. on the medal roll.
