Description
Private Flynn is verified on the Afghan Roll as being issued the Afghan Medal with no clasp 1877-8-9, but is not on the roll for the Star to the 14th, none of the regiment being eligible.
The Star is officially impressed on the reverse as is normal and I suspect that Flynn was attached to another regiment perhaps as a Telegrapher or some other specialist profession and listed on a supplementary roll at the P.R.O.
This is the second medal we have seen to Flynn, the first one had the prefix 14B/ before his number. One of two examples and they are probably unique to the regiment.
