Description
George was born in St. Johns, Manchester in about 1870 and enlisted from the 3rd Militia battalion 8.5.1888. He served 5 plus years in India then transferred to the reserves. He was called up for South Africa and discharged as medically unfit. Only two companies of the Manchester Regiment took part (311) the other British Regiment present was the 650 men of the K.R.R.C. other regiments were Indian and some Artillery
