Description

John Moore, a miner from Holytown, Lanarkshire, was born on 10 September 1896. He attested into the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on 24 April 1915 for service during the Great War and was advanced Able Seaman on 18 August 1915 before serving in H.M.S. Indomitable from 20 August 1915 to 31 July 1917. Demobilised to shore on 8 April 1919 he subsequently attested into the Cameron Highlanders for seven years with the Colours, and five in the Reserve, on 21 September 1920, with Regimental No. 2923286.

Sold with original certificate of service, original certificate for wounds and hurts relating to a hand injury in December 1917, and copied research and card box of issue.
