Description
Frank Carpenter was born on 22 April 1899 at Bulwell, Basford, Nottingham. He was educated at Nottingham University from 1916-1917. He saw service in WW1 and indeed was shot down and taken prisoner. After his release he contained to service until September 1928 when he retired. He returned to the Royal Air Force on the outbreak of WW2. He served until April 1946 retiring with the rank acting Group Captain. He was mentioned in despatches L.G. 1.1. 1946. He died November 1973.
