Description
George was born in the parish of St. Nicholas, Aberdeen and enlisted age 18 years, 1 month 8.2.1894 having previously served in the Gordon Highlanders Militia. Served Egypt 18.1.1894 to 2.10.1898. Queen’s Sudan medal and clasp Khartoum confirmed on the roll, a Q.S.A. with clasps Belmont, Modder River, Orange Free State, Transvaal and South Africa 1901 Discharged 2.9.1902 medically unfit.
Re-enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers number S9657 and served in the 25th No. 3672 and the 9th No. 36725.
Died of wounds 25.10.1918 and remembered on the Awoingt British Cemetery (3 miles from Cambrai)
