Description

Born in Mallow, Co. Cork and enlisted for the Bengal Artillery 5.1.1849, age 21 years at Cork. He served at the siege and capture of Delhi in 1857 his rank Sergeant. This regiment suffered many casualties at Delhi. Staff Sergeant 1859, Company Sergeant Major 1860, Battery Sergeant Major 1862, serving 21 years 206 days. 19 years and 102 days in India his final service  with No. 6 battery.
