Description
Born in St Halcus, St. Helens and enlisted 8.6.1878 age 21 and trade a groom. Papers state D.A.G. 21.8.1880 to be mustered as a ‘mason’ Served Gibraltar and Egypt 1883 to 1885. Transferred to the Army Reserve 21.8.18. Discharged 3.7.1890, confirmed on the roll. The 24th company the only Royal Engineers present so this is quite rare to British recipients.
