It is believed that P. 12503 J. Willy M.F.P first served abroad at Mesopotamia 23. 5. 1916. Formerly Acting Sergeant 1/Ox & Bucks Light Infantry No 23506. Transferring to the Iraq Levies as Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant. His M.I,C. shows his Iraq Medals details and civil hence I think no number, rank or regiment on the medal.The Iraq Levies originated in the local Arab armed scout force raised during the W.W.1. After Iraq became a British Mandate, the force composed mostly of Assyrians, Kurds, Iraq Turkmen who lived in the north of the country.
