Belgian Croix de Guerre London Gazette 4 September 1919. Edward Alan Barclay-Smith was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers from the Royal Military Academy on 19 February 1916 and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 25 October 1916. Edward Alan Barclay-Smith was born in Cambridge in 1897.
Son of a Doctor of Medicine of 57, Bateman Street, Cambridge. He was commissioned and served France & Belgium 27 Oct 1916 to 9 Nov 1917 when presume he was wounded later serving 15 April 18 to 11 November 18. Awarded the Belgium War Cross LG. 4-9-19. in 1921. Census he is shown as living 11 Vanbrugh Park Greenwich. In 1922 his address was Park Lodge, Hervey Road, Blackheath.
